At Cards Unlimited, we work with a range of gift card materials. For the majority of gift cards, the standard is PVC. However, there are several environmentally and sustainable alternatives. We’d be happy to tell you about the options.

Our environmentally friendly gift cards

Would you like to do your bit for the environment and sustainability? Then we have several options to offer you:

  • Bio-PE gift cards: we offer two sorts of Bio-PE cards, one based on 60% calcium and one based on 80% cane sugar. Both sorts are 100% recyclable and less greenhouse is reduced during their production. Bio-PE cards are almost indistinguishable from traditional plastic cards. Bio-PE is not biodegradable.
  • Bio-PVC gift cards: bio-PVC cards are entirely biodegradable over period of 9 months to 5 years. The finished card performs just the same as a standard plastic card.
  • PET-G cards: PET-G is a plastic with the same characteristics as PVC, but it is more environmentally friendly. PET-G cards are chlorine free and can be entirely recycled without releasing hazardous gases into the atmosphere.
  • FSC: something other than plastic? Sturdy cardboard cards with an FSC quality mark are also an option. Responsible forest management balances social, environmental and economic interests. Cardboard cards allow you to contribute to the protection of forests and a healthy living environment for people and animals worldwide. We have a wood model as well as the cardboard model.
  • Flower card:  when you go for these cards you go 100% for sustainability and nature. This sort of cardboard is made from cotton fibres and impregnated flower seeds.
  • Elephant grass: this is a revolutionary material with many possibilities. The paper for the cards is made from elephant grass. It is made without the use of chemicals or bleach. Furthermore, it can be harvested up to 20 times and the grass absorbs four times as much CO2 as a normal forest.
