Fact&Figures
Research shows us that:
Giftcards generate more income
In the United States, the gift card has almost fully replaced the gift voucher. Since the introduction of the gift card, the income in gift vouchers and gift cards has grown from $ 10 billion to $ 65 billion (of which $ 3 billion is from gift coupons and $ 62 billion in cards). In the Netherlands, the gift card is in its beginner’s period, but the average income raise is already at 30%.
Popular gift
37 percent of the Dutch people received a minimum of one gift in the last year that they did not like. Half of those gifts went to attics or sheds, one third was given away. That is why 87% of the people questioned would like a gift card. More than 84% also thinks it is a useful gift.
Enormous potential
The Netherlands currently have 16.456.276 inhabitants ( Feb. 2009). This means that an average of 16.456.276 / 365 days = 45.085 people have their birthday every day. The average number of gifts received is 5 gifts. This means that 225.428 gifts are bought each day for a birthday. A small math sum to show the potential of the gift card market.
